A Penny For My Thoughts

Here Kitty Kitty…

By Paul Wein

Being a lover of animals, Christine recently asked me if we could get a kitten. To be honest, I originally did not want to – only because I didn’t want the responsibility of another pet. But since Christine wanted a kitten, I told her that someday, we would get one – and then her friend Rob’s cat had kittens – and I knew what was coming. Before I could blink an eye – she had one already picked out – and I knew that “no” was not an option. So having no choice – I said yes – and it was the best decision I ever made.

We took him home on Saturday, because although the kitten was born four months ago – we had to wait until this weekend before we could take him home – because you have to wait four months before you can remove a kitten from it’s mother. So when the day came, we went to Puppy Paradise and picked up everything that we needed, went home to clean the house – and then went to Rob’s house to get our new kitten.

When we got to Rob’s house and we saw him – I fell instantly in love with him. Here was this little white and gray four-month-old kitten that when I last saw him – was nothing more then a pink creature the size of my palm that could not even open his little eyes. And now – he is a fully matured kitten ready to grow up in a loving home – our loving home.

We purchased a kitty bed and used that to transport him from Rob’s house when we took him home. And as soon as he got upstairs – he was very nervous and began to cry. I can totally understand why he was scared and expected him to be that way for the first week. But after only a few hours of crying and hiding – he walked right up to me and let me pet him – and then slept right in between Christine and I that night. The next day, while I was at work – Christine and Beavis (which is what we named him) spent the day playing, sleeping – and bonding. And by the time I got home – the cat was acting like we had him for years. My favorite thing that has happened since we got Beavis happened this morning when I woke up. I looked in his bed to see if he was still asleep and he wasn’t there – because he was sleeping right next to me.

I am very, very happy that Christine decided to get Beavis. I think that he will be the perfect edition to our family. What is better then an adorable baby cat who wants nothing more then to give unconditional love? Nothing. So I think that while Christine and I will surely give Beavis a good home and plenty of love – it is us who will be benefiting the most from our new bundle of joy.

We’re going to have a great life together – all three of us.
