A Penny For My Thoughts

Now It’s Your Turn To Get Attacked

By Paul Wein

With just under one month since terrorists attacked America, the world was waiting for the US and it’s allied forces to retaliate for the unprovoked yet devastating blow suffered on September 11th. Even this morning, I was talking with some workers at Ground Zero and we were all wondering when these monsters would feel the wrath of the NATO Alliance – I am very happy to say that I finally got my answer just moments ago – when combined US and British forces began attacking Afghanistan.

Called Operation Enduring Freedom, the goal of this attack is to destroy the terrorist camps that are located within Afghanistan – and the slimes that live and train there. It appears, by both early news reports and the President’s speech just a few minutes ago – that the attacks are successful. The news just reported that one of the Taliban’s main communications centers was destroyed and that many of the terrorist camps have been hit as well – I hope so.

In his speech from the Treaty Room of The White House, the President said that he gave the Taliban a list of demands that they had almost a month to meet – but chose to completely ignore. Having no other choice – the silence and passiveness of the United States and the dozens of countries that stand with us has ended – and the retaliatory attacks have begun.

Although I am very excited that the attacks have begun and hope that they are plentiful and unwavering – I do feel for and will pray for our young men and women that are on the front lines defending us and our freedom thousands of miles away from home while we sit and pray for their safe return. It takes a lot of courage and pride to join the military, and our sisters and brothers that are there putting their lives on the line to ensure this country’s freedom deserve our gratitude, our love – and our prayers for their valiant and selfless efforts.

I realize that this is only the first wave of attacks and that it will take a long time to flush out those responsible for the September 11th atrocities and bring them to justice – but with the amount of firepower, fellow countries – and faith that we have behind us – it’s only a matter of time.

Lock and load.

“And in that bright October sun,
we knew our childhood days were done.
And I watched my friends go off to war.
What do they keep on fighting for?”
