Advice For The Press – If You Ignore Him, He’ll Go Away
By Paul Wein
There is an old saying, “Try and get your name in the paper before it makes the Obituary column”. In today’s spotlight hungry society, many people have adopted this saying as a way of life – including some who do not even deserve to be talked about, much less written about. But of all the people in the world who wind up in the press and don’t deserve it – there is one media hungry fly on the world’s back who makes my skin crawl more then any other.
This person not only winds up in the paper at least once a week – but he is also mentioned among political circles, seen in photographs with some very prominent people – and is somehow so important that people actually wonder who he will endorse for Mayor of New York City, because his endorsement might somehow alter the election in favor of the candidate he endorses. But in reality – this person is an egotistical, self-promoting instigator who claims to be a proponent of racial harmony – but spends as much time as he can promoting racism and segregation – even to the level of staging fake racial attacks only to garner press for himself and for his real cause – racial disharmony. His name? Al Sharpton.
A self-proclaimed Reverend who claims to want nothing more then racial equality, and who dares to say that he shares the same dream as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – Sharpton takes a racially motivated incident that he should show to the world as an example of the horrors of racism – and wields it like a weapon for his cause instead.
Whenever an African-American resident of New York City becomes a victim of a racially motivated crime – Sharpton’s actions are the same. First, he clings to the victim like a leech would to human skin. Next, he stands behind the victim like an eerie shadow and promises to do everything in his power to help them – and then holds press conference after press conference – this time standing in front of the victim and then proceeds to once again victimize this victim by using them as a pawn in his twisted and self-righteous game of racial chess.
That is what separates Al Sharpton from the rest of those who are brave enough to fight the never-ending battle against racism. While opponents of racism strive for things like equality, inclusion and togetherness – Sharpton fiends for inequality, separation – and segregation. And he tries his best to accomplish this by holding protests, marches and rallies, by pointing out every single act of racism as if he wants the word “racism” to be on everyone’s mind – and even resorted to creating a false act of racism in 1987 using a fifteen year old girl named Tawana Brawley as a tool to carry out his demented and demonic act.
Sharpton proudly stood by Tawana Brawley in November of 1987 when she told the world that to she was tortured and raped by several white men who burned off her clothes, cut off sections of her hair, smeared dog feces on her body – and inscribed racial epithets into her skin. After describing her ordeal to the media – Brawley then named Former Dutchess County Prosecutor Steven Pagones as one of her assailants. This staged act of racism not only sparked a racial uproar in New York City – it ruined an innocent man’s career. Once word got out that Sharpton had staged the incident – a grand jury found him guilty on seven counts of defamation of character – and Pagones sued Sharpton and his cohorts for three hundred and ninety-five million dollars.
Again I ask – why does anyone take this man seriously? And why does the press give him so much coverage?
Al Sharpton in my opinion is nothing more then a proponent for segregation and a self-elected martyr for the African-American community. I am not a racist at all and think that anyone that has their civil rights violated because of the color of their skin is truly a victim – but I think those victims that get used by Sharpton for his own political, personal – and immoral gains are the worst victims of all. I also think that the press really needs to take a look at this man and what he has done – and then realize that the best thing to do is to ignore this man and not cover him like he is a rock star or a politician – because he is nothing but an instigator of hate – and someone who needs to be ignored before he uses his undeserved attention to stage more fake acts of racism and create another racial uproar.
