A Penny For My Thoughts

Now That’s What I Call A Weekend

By Paul Wein

A few weekends ago, my Saturday and Sunday felt like a Monday and Tuesday because I had so much to do and had no time to relax, have fun – or do what I wanted. This weekend, however, was one of the best I have had in a long time. From two great barbecues, to a killer party, to getting re-acquainted with old friends, to meeting the APA to getting some things done in the house – I wish all weekends were like this one.

The weekend from Heaven started out Saturday when Christine and I cleaned the whole house to get ready for our party that night. Whenever I clean the house, it always puts me in a good mood because I know that the house is clean. After that, we went to Fun Time U.S.A. and did a Ring Fever shoot with the APA, Farooq and Bradshaw. The interview went great and the fans were tremendous as always.

After a day like that, what could make it better but a party at Paulie’s. But this was no ordinary party – it was a barbecue party. Besides bringing drinkables for the fridge – everyone brought something for the grill. And what could top beer and barbecue but having the old crew from the Summer of 1998 attend the party. With a fridge full of beer, a grill full of barbecue, a group of my good friends – and a group of my old friends that was the perfect combination for a successful party – and a great night.

Sunday was a carbon copy of Saturday. After an afternoon barbecue, my landlord came upstairs to finish installing the kitchen ceiling tiles – and put the first of two glass shelves behind my bar. I love when I can scratch something off of my “to do” list – and thanks to Mike – my “to do” list is getting smaller and smaller.

Sunday night consisted of watching a documentary on Sharks on The Discovery Channel with Christine – and then heading into the bedroom where she did her crossword puzzle while I wrote a column. The perfect night – and the best way to end a wonderful weekend.

I realize that not every weekend can be a great one for one reason or another. But when a great weekend does come along – it makes going to work on Monday morning that much easier.
