An Introduction And A Reunion At Invasion
By Paul Wein
Yesterday was WWF/WCW/ECW Invasion, the pay-per-view that marked the joining of all three federations for the very first time on the same pay-per-view. While this may have been a monumental event in the wrestling world – I had my own monumental event yesterday – and it not only introduced me to a friend that I had wanted to meet for a long time – it showed me that Christine and I truly do belong together.
After dating for a short while, Christine was interested in subscribing and posting to the South Park Digest – because of her love for the show and the fact that she wanted to be involved in the things in my life – something I really appreciated. So she signed up and sent in her first post hoping that the other members of the Digest would “talk” to her and make her part of the Booster Club family.
To both of our surprise, the first person to contact her was Cheryl, a long time member of the Digest and a Brooklynite that I had tried to meet since I became Moderator. A die hard wrestling fan, I decided to invite her to a number of Ring Fever shows because of her love for the sport – and so I could meet her – but unfortunately, our meeting never worked out for one reason or another.
The reason we were both surprise by Cheryl’s e-mail was because when Cheryl saw Christine’s name – she instantly recognized her as someone she knew since second grade but had lost contact with. So she contacted us an invited us over for Invasion yesterday.
So in the same night, I got to meet someone I have been corresponding with for almost two years – and Christine got to get reunited with an old friend that she knew since childhood – who just happened to be the same person.
To me, this is validation, or viable proof that Christine and I were meant to be together. If we had not decided to start dating, the chances of Christine running into Cheryl were slim – and so were the chances of me and Cheryl meeting because stuff always came up. How wonderfully ironic that Christine and my union gave us both the chance to meet Cheryl, a new friend of mine – and an old friend of Christine’s.
Cheryl, her husband and their dog Dude were great people to hang out with, and I have a feeling last night will not be the last time we see each other. But while we all had a good time, the most amazing part of the night was that we all got something out of it. I got to meet Cheryl in person for the first time, Christine got to see Cheryl again – and Cheryl got to meet me and see Christine again – all because Christine and I decided to date.
If that is not a sign that Christine and I belong together – I don’t know what is.
