A Penny For My Thoughts

Look On The Bright Side – At Least I’m In Alaska

By Paul Wein

After traveling across the country and being awake for now fourteen hours – I have finally arrived in the state of my destination – but not quite my final destination. Thanks to Northwest Airlines, I am – you guessed it – sitting in an airport once again awaiting a flight that is about an hour away. Once I board this flight – I will have just another one and a half hours before I reach Juneau – meet Montel – and most probably pass out.

While there is no such thing as problem free travel – you can’t blame me for being upset, fed up – and down right exhausted. I got very little sleep last night and have spent this entire day checking in, boarding, “de-planing” – and waiting.

If all of the prior problems I have had is not bad enough – I now have to turn my concern to my luggage. Considering that the last time I saw my luggage was at 6:00am this morning in New Jersey – and taking into consideration that I have switched planes five times – I am concerned that my luggage is on a vacation of its own. And the worst part is – I won’t know that status of my luggage until I reach Juneau. So the only thing I can do now I hope that my luggage has made the trip with me so far – and will continue to follow me to my final destination without incident.

I will say that despite my exhaustion – I was amazed at the view I saw as my plane from Minnesota was making it’s final approach to Anchorage. As I peered out the window – all I saw was miles of snow covered mountains very similar to what I saw in Colorado – but the difference is that these mountains do not have huge hotel complexes in the middle of them. They are just as they were when God made them without the scars of man’s development. So if the view from the plane was that breathtaking – I can’t wait to see the rest of the state.

It’s time to board one more time for the final time – next stop and last stop – Juneau.
