The True Reward Of Writing
By Paul Wein
To me, the true reward of writing this column has never been money, accolades or even recognition. It has been the fact that people enjoy reading it, and hopefully come away with something they did not have before they read it.
As I approach my three hundredth column I must say that there are many people as of late who have told me that they have enjoyed reading my columns and look forward to future ones. Some people have even subscribed to the column so they can receive it in their e-mail box instead of having to come to my site to read it. But of all the people that give me positive feedback from my columns no one comes close to Sara.
I met her through a member of the South Park Booster Club sometime last year. When she heard about my column, she went to my website and read a few of them, after which she wrote me and told me that she really liked them. Now, whenever I post a column not even an hour goes by before I get a review of the column from Sara and each review is always positive.
Living in Long Island, which is in close proximity to Brooklyn, she has attended a few of my parties and I have come to know her as a sweet, kind, gentle soul that has a genuinely good heart and a lot to offer. Besides being my columns biggest supporter, she has since become a member of the South Park Booster Club, an attendee of the upcoming South Park Convention in Colorado, a regular at my parties and most important of all a good friend.
These are the reasons why I write the columns I write. Besides the fact that they are a great source of comfort, strength and relief for me they are my way of hopefully making a difference, giving someone inspiration, getting my views of the world out to the world and meeting great people like Sara.
I plan to continue writing this column until my hands can no longer type and with each column I post I look forward to Saras reviews and I hope they never stop coming.
