They say that true love is when you and your partner can be best friends as well as lovers. I agree. But I also think that true love is when you and your partner can be – in addition to friends and lovers – buddies.

Christine and I, besides being a great couple – are also great buddies. When we spend time together, we have our share of romance – but there is so much more to the time we spend together then just that. We also have the ability to “hang out” with each other and be ourselves without ever worrying about being embarrassed or feeling awkward in front of each other.

Take a few weekends ago for example. It was Saturday morning and we just finished breakfast and had no plans for the rest of the day. So we joined a video club, rented a bunch of videos, opened up the pull-out couch – and spent the day in bed watching TV and eating popcorn. A whole day without obligations, jobs or responsibilities is a rarity to me – but it was worth it because I spent the day with Christine. Besides watching videos, we talked, laughed and had a genuinely good time doing absolutely nothing. I can’t remember the last time I had such a fun day. To me – that is indeed true love.

To be able to spend the day with someone doing nothing at all and still having a blast is a clear example that we are very compatible. Not only do I enjoy her romantically and when we are among friends – but I enjoy her when we are in our pajamas watching videos and eating popcorn – and she enjoys me just as much.

It’s no secret that I have been here before and have said basically the same things about the people I used to be with – and so has she. But this time, we are taking it slow and getting to know each other before we leap forward. And from what I know so far – she is not only a great lover – she is a great friend – and lots of fun.
