A Penny For My Thoughts

I Just Love To Hear From Our Fans…Don’t You Stimpy?

By Paul Wein

Since September 1, 1999 – I have been an employee of my favorite television show – South Park. For every day since that now infamous day, I have brought thousands of people all over the world their daily dose of their favorite television show. For since that first day of the ninth month of 2000, I acted as the medium between one of the most popular shows on television – and the fans that have made that show so popular. I have been blessed with the ability to watch my favorite TV show’s brand new episode – something I would have done anyway – and then be able to go online and have 57,000 of my favorite TV show’s fans send me e-mail me and tell me how much they loved the show I just watched. But more then that – I have been able to spend the last year and a half of my life befriending so many people all over this planet – because of four eight year old cartoon characters from a fictional town in South Park, Colorado.

When I became the Moderator of the South Park Booster Club – I had no idea that it would effect me as profoundly as it has. I thought that I would simply be a conduit for my favorite TV show. I assumed that I would be someone who held the line between the TV show and it’s Faneed together. Instead – I have become someone whom over 50,000 people regard as everything from a “Mod With An Awesome Bod” to a member of “The Gods”. I have risen to someone the members of the South Park Booster Club hold so dearly – that I received 257 e-mails wishing me good luck on my surgery. And most importantly – I have become someone who actually has fans – little do they know that it is I who is their biggest fan.

The slogan of my wrestling TV show, Ring Fever is, “Where The Fans Are The Stars”. The reason that is our slogan is because without fans – stars, TV shows and songs would be nothing. It is the fans that decide what is cool, what is hot – and what will make money. So without the fans – there is no fame or fortune.

I am proud to say that I have fans from Ring Fever – and fans from the South Park Booster Club. If I received a million dollars ha year from doing Ring Fever – and an additional five million dollar a year from doing South Park – it would not give me the rewards that fan mail, autograph requests – and appreciation do.

To “my fans” – which I place in quotes because I don’t feel I deserve any – thank you from the absolute bottom of my heart for considering me someone you look up to, admire, respect – and consider famous. Thank you for being interested in me as a person and not just me as a wrestling TV Host or South Park Moderator. Thank you for the letters, e-cards, e-mails, well wishes, compliments, drawings – and the moments of your life it took to send them – and most importantly – thank you for becoming such a special part of my life that I would die if I ever stopped Ring Fever or The South Park Booster Club – but I plan to live forever.

“I’m making records, sometimes they can’t wait.
They write me letters, tell me I’m great.
So I got me an office, gold records on the wall.
Just leave a message, maybe I’ll call.”
