A Penny For My Thoughts

Everything Happens For A Reason

By Paul Wein

As of late, I have been taking stock of my life as never before and have put every experience I have had into perspective. In doing so, I have realized that everything happens for a reason – do you agree?

I believe that whatever we experience in life, be it a happy or unhappy event, happens for a reason. Not to say that our lives are pre-destined, just that every experience we have happens so we can gain something from it and move onto the next one with a greater understanding of life and its experiences. Be it knowledge, experience, or just plain happiness, we gain something nonetheless.

Many different examples of this theory that have happened in my own life have crossed my mind as of late. The biggest would be losing all of my stuff. Now, despite the fact that I have nothing, I can start over from scratch and build the rest of my life with the woman whom I plan to be with for the rest of my life – my Sandy. Another example of this theory would be my getting laid off from the Marketeer last November. When I left, I thought I would never find another job. The stress I went through was unimaginable – and then I was told that the Buildings Department was in need of a Press Secretary.

What I mean is that throughout my life, each experience I have had has led right into the next one. Every end in my life has led right into a new beginning. Every loss has led to an even bigger victory.

I do not know whether this is true in your life – I only hope so. I just know that while I am not a believer in being able to see into your future, I do think that whenever you experience an event in your life, be it bad or good, at the perfect time or completely inconvenient, an answered prayer or your worst nightmare, just remember that it has to happen – because everything happens for a reason.
