Summer So Far
By Paul Wein
On April 15, 1999, I wrote a column called Summer. In the column, I said:
“This will be my 28th summer, and I plan to make it the best ever. I plan to live life to the fullest, go everywhere, see everything, and spend time with everyone.”
I am proud to say that only 28 days into the season, I have already accomplished all that – and more. This is already the best summer of my life, so far, I have done things I never thought I would do, gone places I never thought I would go, and experience things I only would dream of – and the summer is not even half over yet.
In just 28 days, I have taped an episode of Comedy Central’s Upright Citizens Brigade to air on August 2nd, I have attended tapings of both The Daily Show and the Tom Green Show, and I now write reviews for each weekly South Park episode for Comedy Central’s South Park Booster Club Digest – and the best part is – I have another 51 days until the summer is over. With all that time left, who knows what could happen?
The best part about the summer so far is that I have met some great people. I enjoy nothing more than meeting new people and adding to my circle of friends. So far this summer I am proud to say that I have made more friends than I can count. Every day I am being introduced to more and more fun and interesting people. For example, I go to a party with one of my friends, and make friends with everyone else by the end of the night – and that has happened a lot so far this summer. In addition to some great friends, I have also made some great business contacts from the music, television and film industry. Isn’t summer the best?
Now do you see why in my last column on summer, I wrote:
“I don’t know about you, but I have always found summer to be the best time of the year. When I was younger, I didn’t go to school or to work during the summer, so it was really special. But now, even though I work, I still find that summer holds a magic that the rest of the year does not.”
Told ya.
