I’d Like To Add My Initial To Her Monogram
By Paul Wein
This June, I am going to marry someone who went from a complete stranger, to a very good friend, to my girlfriend, to my fiancée – and now, this June – to my wife Julie Ann Somerville.
I have to say that of all the girls I have dated in the past, no one has ever let me be myself more than she has. She puts up with the fact that I eat whenever I am hungry – even if that is not normal dinner time. The truth that I watch “adult television” all the time – and because she spends time with me – she does too – and that guarantee that I speak to at least one ex-girlfriend a day (not in an intimate way, but rather a friendly one) – and she is cool with that. No matter who else is out there, I know for a fact that I would never be happier with my life if I did not have Julie by my side for the rest of it.
We are now in the midst of making wedding plans. We chose a local hotel that has a great wedding package and she has already purchased her wedding dress. We also have our groomsmen and bridesmaids picked out and plan to go for a tasting at the hotel this week before we sign the contract – because God forbid we book a place that has food that sucks. In addition, we have already picked out our wedding favors – which are matchbooks and personalized candy hearts – we are both so excited that each of us wish it was today.
We have chosen a theme for our wedding, and it is, “This Day I Married My Friend.” I think that is perfect because when we met in August, 2003 – she was just that – my friend. And now, she has become so much more. She is my confidante, my Muse, my helper, my partner, my lover – and my best friend. Unfortunately, I have been married before and that obviously did not end well. But I am so glad that I get one more shot at forever – and who better to do it with then Julie.
I am counting the days until I watch Julie walk down the aisle in a white dress and offer me her love for the rest of her life. She is a true Angel and I can’t wait until the day that we publicly say our vows and begin our journey down the road of life as Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wein. While I have been engaged before many times – I never went through with the wedding…
…because I never found the right person – until now.
Here’s to forever Julie!
