They Found Me!
By Paul Wein
Ever since the inception of the Internet, people have connected in a way that was never before possible. With sites like MySpace and Facebook, childhood friends, ex-lovers and even long-lost family members have reunited and I am happy to say that I am no exception.
I have been on MySpace for four years and Facebook for close to a year-and-a-half, and in that time I cant tell you how many people have found me. From my friend Steven Ettinger who I was friends with twenty years ago, to Samantha, who I was crib mates with when I was two to Diane a girl that I was intimate with and cared for very much in 2006 people from my past have come out of the woodwork.
Actually, if not for MySpace, Julie and I would not be together today. Julie and I lost contact in 2005, and if not for her finding me on MySpace we would not be ready to give our lives to each other in the bond of marriage. Each time I post a column on MySpace, Julie is almost always the first to comment, I really appreciate that and thank God that MySpace reunited us.
Each day I go online, I always make it a point to log onto MySpace and Facebook and almost every day I discover that someone from my past has sought me out. In fact, just this Saturday night, I had an hour-long conversation with my friend Steve after not hearing from him for close to ten years. It was so awesome to be able to re-connect with someone from my past and I would not have been able to do it without MySpace and Facebook.
If I were you, I would sign up (if you have not already) for a MySpace and Facebook account and search for people from your past. We all have people we knew that we lost touch with that we wish we could get in contact with again. Im sure that if you looked hard enough you could find those people from your past and get to know them again.
By the way another person who found me was my very first girlfriend Stacey who is now married and a mother of two.
