Unless you have been living under a rock for the last six months – you are well aware that our economy is in the worst shape it has been since The Great Depression. Companies are cutting jobs left and right, businesses are either filing for bankruptcy or closing as if there was no tomorrow – and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling faster than the Hindenburg. So in order to help this crisis – President Obama signed a Law giving a bailout to the Nation’s banks and automobile industry…

…my question is – why not bail us out?

Before I explain my question, it should be noted that the money we are using to bail this country out is just being printed. In other words – we are simply making money without anything to back it up. I am terrified of what that is going to do to this country’s currency. Our country allocates a certain amount of bills per denomination in order to maintain the dollar – but my question is – what is going to happen now?

But back to my question. I respect President Obama and have all the faith in the world in him – but wouldn’t it make more sense to give the bailout money to the people instead of those who are responsible for getting us in this mess in the first place? I feel that it would be more logical to cut each and every American a check so they can catch up on their bills, pay off their debts – and restore their life to normalcy. All this money will do, if given to the banks – is give them more money to blow on bonuses, golden parachutes – and lavish parties. But if given to the American public – money will be spent, bills will be paid – and everything that is wrong with this country will be righted.

In no way do I even have the gaul to say what I think should be done right financially – because I have no knowledge of the financial world. I just think that this trillion or so dollars should go to us – so the money will be spent and the economy will correct itself. Giving the money to banks will only add to the problems we are facing…

…but giving it to us would begin to solve it.
