Bravo To Our Dean’s List Nominees
By Paul Wein
At this time each year, students from across the country are nominated for their college’s respective Dean’s Lists. The Dean’s List recognizes students that have maintained a very high grade-point average, which is usually a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, and have shown outstanding academic achievement throughout a particular semester.
Recently, we here at the Nassau Herald have received many announcements from proud parents across the Five Towns and Atlantic Beach letting us know that their children have made the Dean’s Lists at colleges all over the country – and I just want to say how proud I am of all of the students that have earned this prestigious honor.
Here is a list of just some of the students that have made their college’s respective Dean’s Lists:
• Marc Rolla, Hewlett, State of New York University at Cortland
• Tara Cathleen, Inwood, Georgetown University
• Konstantin Karmazin, Hewlett, Georgetown University
• Stacey Aaron, Hewlett, Syracuse University
• Alex Bryer, Hewlett, University of Maryland
• John Schneider, Woodmere, Duke University
• Brooke Hartstein, Hewlett, Hofstra University
• Patrick Douglas, Woodmere, Georgetown University
• Jessica Palacios, Inwood, Duke University
• Brad A. Gottlieb, Woodmere, University of Vermont
• Russell A. Hirschorn, Woodmere, University of Vermont.
• Daniel Lo Verde, Woodmere, Sacred Heart University
These students, through their quest for education and drive to excel, set an example for all of us to follow that, with proper education, you can achieve anything you put your mind to. One of my favorite inspirational quotes is, "Life is what you make it, and your only limitation is yourself." The fact that these students have worked so hard is living proof of just that – that if you put your mind to it – you can accomplish anything.
If your child has made the Dean’s List at their college, please do not hesitate to let us know. You can do so by e-mailing me their information at nassaueditor@liherald.com, or by mailing it to, "Dean’s List" c/o Nassau Herald, P.O. Box 9001, West Hempstead, NY 11552. Please include your child’s full name, the town or village they live in, their grade-point average, and the college they are attending. You may also include a photo of your child if you wish, and we will be more than happy to print it.
Congratulations again to these exceptional students, and I look forward to seeing many more Dean’s List nominees in future issues.
