A Penny For My Thoughts

I Got To Admit It’s Better – It’s Getting Better All The Time

By Paul Wein

As part of my job for Fillmore Real Estate, I am to attend various conventions to promote and market Fillmore to real estate professionals across the country. The first convention I attended was the RIS Media Show in New York’s Roosevelt Hotel on September 28th and 29th. And the next big convention will be at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on October 16th and 17th for the Learning Annex Real Estate Expo. But now, as I write this column, I am attending the RELO Regional Convention – in Boston Massachusetts.

I left Brooklyn at 12:30pm this afternoon to begin my 225-mile drive to the Omni Parker House Hotel on School Street in Boston – the site of the Convention and the location of my room. The longest continually run hotel in United States history, this hotel is right on The Freedom Trail and is more luxurious than any hotel Manhattan has to offer. With rich history and obvious elegance – I know that my very short stay here will be an exciting one.

As I hit the road this morning for yet another cross-country excursion, my adrenaline flowed as I turned the key of my rented Chevy Malibu. One of my favorite things is to drive across our great nation, and as I drove from New York through Connecticut to Boston this afternoon – my journey was paved with trees wearing leaves that were changing colors and mountains that stood tall and proud as I passed them by.

When I arrived in Boston, I passed Fenway Park and saw with my own eyes – the famous “Green Monster” – which is the outfield wall of the stadium. In addition, I saw many historic buildings, beautiful Brownstones – and a City rich in history, culture – and baseball. While I may be a die-hard Yankee fan, I have already realized that considering the fact that I am in Red Sox country and both teams are in the playoffs – it’s best that I keep my pinstripe devotion a secret.

It is now 6:06pm. My plan is to attend the Convention’s opening dinner, which is being held at Umbria’s at 7:30pm – a place that will open to the public tomorrow – after they serve us dinner tonight. I then plan to head back to my lavish hotel room, change – and head to a place where everybody knows my name – just so I can say that I have been there.

I may only be staying in Boston for the next twenty-four hours, but I plan to enjoy a week’s worth of vacationing while I am here and enjoy all that Boston has to offer – from the seafood to the history to the ambiance…

…everything except the baseball.
