Happy Birthday Christine, From Both Of Us
By Paul Wein
I must have met at least a few thousand people throughout the course of my life. Some of those people have become very close friends, some I have made casual acquaintances - and some I choose to no longer associate with. But the people who are in my life now are individuals whom I consider to be true friends that are positive and supportive rather than negative and draining. And among that small group of people - there is one person who I am so close with - that I trust her to watch my home when I go on vacation, I offer her the same advice and help she offers to me - and I care for her so much that I hope we remain friends for life - my friend Christine.
I met Christine in 2001 through a mutual friend who was a fan of my television show, Ring Fever. After meeting, we realized that we both had feelings for each other and decided to start dating. We wound up dating from April, 2001 until the end of 2003 when we realized that we both became two different people due to a number of circumstances we lived through and decided that it was in both of our best interests to go back to being friends. After we did, we did not speak for a few months until I moved away from both my old apartment and the drama that lived there with me.
While we are friends now, I must admit that I felt really bad when we did not talk. Besides not having contact with me, she did not see Beavis for several months. We got Beavis together and I know she considers Beavis to be her "son" as much as I do, so I know that when she was not able to see him, it hurt her really bad. So as soon as I moved and was settled in my new place, I invited Christine over to see Beavis. When she came to the new house and saw him for the first time in months - she instantly started to cry. She then hugged him and did not let go for a long time, and while Beavis did not see her for a while either, I knew that he missed her as well and could tell that he was indeed happy to see her too.
Since that very happy reunion, she has been over my house several times and has watched my house and our "son" each of the last four times I traveled. We have also gotten closer as friends and have helped each other through some recent hard times. We may not be a couple anymore, but we are close enough that we still love each other as people. She is a great woman that is going to be very successful in her life - and will one day make a lucky man very, very happy.
So on the occasion of her birthday, I wanted to take a moment to publicly wish Christine a very Happy Birthday - and so did Beavis.
